Preferred Relocation Tips for Quick Movement

When you are moving from one place to another, you need to keep certain things in mind so that the process of shifting is done with less stress and pain. Works such as packing of things and closing bank accounts and utilities are important.

For quick relocation, you need to first hire a moving company or a truck as the good ones get booked quick. You should get boxes that are large and capable of holding enough amounts of loads and also it is good to avoid unnecessary groceries. Pack the things depending upon the weights and also it is good to arrange as per the instance of usage. Are you new in relocating from one place to another? If you are not sure about the steps and handlings to carry out relocation successfully, then you can get absolute advice from Preferred Relocation!

The moving experts at Preferred Relocation will pack things such that they are easy to take off while getting out of the truck. The heavy things should be placed at places such that the driving is even and those things are not damaged. You should be aware of every little flaw of the trucks as you could be asked to pay the bills for unnecessary damage that is not included in the sheet. When you load and unload the things, you should be careful as the ramp is made of aluminum and it becomes slippery if it becomes wet. If you are to travel longer, exceeding the night hours, then you should find a safe and secured place for parking the truck and the truck should be filled with gas as the truckers may charge unnecessarily. Preferred-Relocation grants you all particular tips and thus makes your relocation comfortable and well-fixed.

Things such as medical reports, prescriptions, membership cards and other things should be updated, so that they could be used in time. During the time of relocation we need to transfer our accounts, pay all the pending bills, send letters for indicating the change of address and also notify friends and neighbors about new address and other contact details. This could help them to get contacted easily in case of urgency. You should once again call the truck, so that you wouldn’t be delayed and the things should be packed well in time, so that you do not miss any important things.

Most important label those boxes so that it will be easier for loading. Hire Preferred Relocation in advance as most of students will be looking for movers. While loading the truck place all the boxes with heavy stuff on the floor and lighter boxes on the top. Find a place on the floor for breakables. Give away unwanted clothes, shoes, and thing that are not so useful to you, like old mattress etc. If you are having, plants find a good home for them, as they cannot handle extreme conditions. Close your bank accounts but if it is a nationalized bank there is no need to do so. Set a time to shut off your utilities, phones, cable, and internet. Change your cell phone number to the appropriate city. Pick up your clothes from dry cleaning and file change of address form with the post office, credit cards etc. Preferred-Relocation.net has amazing tips for this cumbersome process.

While moving yourself makes sure to pack foods that have high water content like grapes, oranges etc. as this will keep you hydrated. If you are traveling for multiple nights park your truck smartly and reserve room. It is best to reserve a room before you leave. Double-check reservation at hotels, motels etc. to be at safer side. Before moving in make sure to turn on all utilities a day before you arrive at the new place. Buy only essential groceries. Preferred Relocation: Moving with Children

January 31st, 2009

Moving and children

There are number of things to be taken care while relocating. Planning, moving transportation, packing etc.

It is a mixed feeling when you are relocating at a new place. You are excited and stressed at same time. Excited about new place, new home, new neighbors and new friends and stressed about planning, packing, transportation, making list of things, getting admission in good school for kids and so on. Log on to Preferred-Relocation.net for assistance.

One of the most important issues to anyone with kids is their adjustment to the new location. One of the worst mistakes we can make as adults is that we think children do not care or will not understand the details of relocation. They may have different feelings about your family move’s excited about their new home but at same time sad about leaving there old friends. See to it that children are involved in your relocating game plan. Preferred Relocation can do wonders and help you adjust to the new place.

Other factors depend on the child’s age. Preschool children under age of six are familiar and feel comfortable in their present environment so it is very important for them to express their feelings and fear about the move. So give them some responsible job like packing their toys.

Elementary kids aged 6-12 are most concerned about change in there everyday routines. If the child is taking dance lessons, music class, and karate class or plays soccer, cricket or basketball…., find these places in your new neighborhoods in advance and keep them informed about these places. If possible, show them the pictures or brochures.

Most concerned with adjusting are the teenagers. These children can get very worried about making new friends. In this case, arrange a visit to the new school and meet the teacher before the actual school starts. Encourage them to bring new friends home, ask for their assistance while painting and arranging furniture.

Preferred Relocation will provide sufficient suggestions to handle disturbed children. Keep the children informed well in advance about your resettlement plans; help them to understand that why and when they are relocating. How their new house will be? Inform them about their new school, new friends. Involve children in planning your move, take there help in looking out for apartments, good school, picking removal companies, arranging a goodbye party for family and relatives, packing things . If child is attached to certain things like favorite books, toys, clothes or pet make sure you take them with you. Take an effort to teach the children about new home in imaginative ways, by showing them pictures, books, magazines, and broachers. If you are moving across country then see to it, you take them to a restaurant where they can taste food of that country. If there is enough time before you move, children can take language lesson also which will be useful for them in the new country. Give them diary where they can write down there old friends address and phone number, encourage them to write letter to there old friends explaining about new places and new friends. Preferred-Relocation.net will give you all details about the new place

It is a very sensitive issue about moving along with children. It has to be handled with understanding and excitement. You will be amazed by the number of ideas Preferred Relocation can provide you.

Preferred Relocation - Read Before You Move

December 10th, 2008

Script from Adam Dalmar’s moving experiences while moving himself from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Chicago, Illinois:

In an effort to save myself some money, I decided to rent a U-Haul and move my three bedroom apartment from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Chicago, IL. Below is a list of costs and occurrences during this process:

  1. I had to rent the U-Haul $2,000 (for 7 days, additional $60 each day after) plus I had to purchase the additional truck hauling insurance for the trip.
  2. I had to hire day labors at $35 an hour/each in helping me load the U-Haul. Being that I lived in an apartment complex with stairs and the workers were not happy.  This took over 7 hours costing me approximately $750.
  3. I had to fill the 60 gallon fuel tank. The cost for the fill up was $240.
  4. The traffic getting through Atlanta was stop and go. When that was finally over, I paid for a motel that could accommodate a 28ft truck. $80/night.
  5. Filled the tank again. $197
  6. Once again traffic was the killer. Nashville’s traffic was unreal! Stayed the night. $65.
  7. Filled the tank again. $178.
  8. I was pulled over for going 12 miles over the speed limit outside of Bowling Green Kentucky. Thanks a lot! Ticket cost $230. I stayed the night in Bowling Green $78. I found myself having food poisoning symptoms from eating at a truck stop so I decided to stay another night in Bowling Green until I felt better. $156
  9. On route through Lawrenceburg, Indiana, I was pulled over again for speeding. The state troopers had received a tip that a U-Haul was delivering drugs so they decided to check my truck which took hours and they found nothing but their own stupidity. The speeding ticket cost me $189.
  10. After the “drug search” the day was spent, so I rested up in a motel outside of Indianapolis. $68
  11. It took me five hours to get through the Indianapolis traffic!
  12. When I finally arrived in Chicago I found day labors. They were cheaper than those in South Florida so I “hired” four at $20each/hour. Two of them broke my 52” flat screen HD TV which cost me $3,000 while trying to fit it into the front door. The unloading took about 5 hours. $3,000 + $500
  13. I returned the U-Haul to find that it was not returned within the seven day limit; thus I was charged an additional $60
  14. Food and Snacks during trip $200

Call it a lesson learned, a very expensive, time consuming, and frustrating life lesson. John, I will call you if I move again!

The cost for me trying to save money and move myself proved to be $7,863.
The quote you gave me with Preferred Relocation $3,783

Preferred Relocation -6 Computer Packing Tips

December 10th, 2008
  1. Backup your data. Be sure to back up all important files and programs. You may do this on discs, which you will then put in a secure container or through the use of an electrical storage component.
  2. Empty the Computer and Printer. Take out all floppy discs, cd-rooms, cd’s, paper, ext.
  3. Shut down and disconnect. Shut down the computer and disconnect all connecting cords. Ensure that there are no connections to the USB port.
  4. Pack computer in its original box if able. If not, you should get an appropriately sized box and shock resistant insulation (ie: bubble wrap or “popcorn.”) These can be purchased PreferredRelocation.net.
  5. Packing the Monitor- Ensure that there is ample bubble wrap or “popcorn” to ensure minimal movement through the duration of the move.
  6. Packing the CPU- IMPORTANT- A computer tower or desktop unit should be packed upright or on its side with the motherboard side lying flat on the bottom. Systems that are packed upside down or with the mother side on the top can loosen the interior cards causing damage and costly repairs. Use bubble wrap or “popcorn” to secure to the system into place within the shipping container.
